In February, Airspection had the exciting opportunity to showcase our cutting-edge drone inspection technology at the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult’s Port of Blyth site. This demonstration, supported by an RTO Voucher from Innovate UK, was a pivotal moment in our ongoing efforts to enhance the safety and efficiency of wind turbine inspections.
Demonstration of Drone Capabilities
Our team, including Matthew and Chris, traveled to Blyth early in the morning to conduct a live demonstration on a wind turbine blade section. The goal was to exhibit how our drones can perform high-quality inspections that match or even surpass current methods, all while eliminating the inherent risks associated with sending personnel offshore.
During the demonstration, we meticulously showcased our drone’s ability to capture detailed inspection data from the turbine blade section. This technology not only provides comprehensive insights into the condition of the turbine blades but also significantly reduces the need for manual inspections in potentially hazardous offshore environments.
Key Outcomes and Future Plans
The outcomes of this project are significant. We have successfully developed a safe and effective process for inspecting wind turbines using drone technology. This has not only proven the capabilities of Airspection’s technology but has also strengthened our working relationship with ORE Catapult, a leading organisation in the renewable energy sector.
As we look to the future, we are excited about the possibilities that our drone technology can bring to the industry. With plans to conduct further tests and demonstrations at additional ORE Catapult sites, we are confident that Airspection is poised to play a crucial role in the future of renewable energy inspections.
